Romania experiences a temperate-continental so typical of Central European ares. As such, Romania weather is characterised by hot summers, cold winters, very distinct seasons, abundant snowfalls especially in the mountains and warmer conditions in the south of the country.
It’s not uncommon for Romania’s winter temperatures to fall well bellow the freezing, although on average they tend to hover around - 3°C. During summer temperatures rise considerable ranging between 22°C and 24°C.
The lowest temperatures ever registered dipped as low as -38.5°C and occurred at Bod in the Brasov Depression, and the highest was 44.5°C and was recorded at Ion Sion in the Baragan Plain.
Annual average rainfall is 677 mm, the mountain regions being the wettest in the country with over 1000m and the coast the driest with less than 400m.
