Romania weather retains a temperate disposition and is characterized by four distinct seasons.
Spring is blessed with pleasant weather, typified by warm days and cool mornings and nights, while autumns are dry and cool, the falling leaves covering the fields and in the process creating a tapestry of colour and scents.
Summer remains warm throughout its duration and is characterized by its abundant sunshine. Temperatures of 100 F are often reached during July and August in the southern and eastern Romania lowlands, making them the hottest areas in the country. Understandably, conditions are significantly more pleasant and temperatures milder and more comfortable in the mountainous regions.
Winters can be cold, especially in the mountains and large parts of the country receive abundant snowfall from December to mid-March.
